Non-discrimination Protections
Advocacy for LGBTQ+ non-discrimination protections in Pennsylvania is an ongoing effort to ensure equal rights and protections for LGBTQ+ individuals. While many municipalities have enacted their own protections, Pennsylvania does not have a statewide non-discrimination law that explicitly includes sexual orientation and gender identity. Over 70 https://keystonebusinessalliance.org governments in Pennsylvania have ordinances that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, and public accommodations, including many in Central Pennsylvania.
Supporting the Pennsylvania Fairness Act
We support the passage of the Pennsylvania Fairness Act, which would amend the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act to include sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes and thus provide statewide non-discrimination protections in employment, housing, and public accommodations. Comprehensive non-discrimination legislation is good for businesses and would position us more competitively among our neighboring states in the Northeast, all of which have such protections.
